Phillip excellent day today. We arrived at the Tanzanian Library Services Board in the am. and left at 5pm. We spent the day with our host Dr. Alli A.S. Mcharazo (CEO) and his staff including Solaneous Komba, Zuberi Hatibu, Mama Africa and others. After introductions Dr Mcharazo, gave the IBM team a presentation on the history and direction of the TLSB. The IBM Team facilitated a discussion asking questions including what would be of most value to the TLSB over the 4 week engagement, what objectives/aspirations they have and what does a "digital library strategy" mean to them. Our teams agree on 5 areas for further discussion and scheduled interviews for tomorrow on Strategy and Direction, Library User and Satisfaction, Library Operations, Digital Technology, Partnerships and Liassons. Interviews set for 9:30 thru 4:00 pm. We will arrive on our hosts site 30 minutes early so Augusto and Francis (as they speak Spaninsh) can assist with an adhoc request to assist a man apply for a Mexican scholarship.

Looks like an amazing trip so far! I love how one of the girls during the library tour is using Facebook! Globalization and social networking at its finest.
