Sunday Mikumi National Park - Well it was even better than expected... and for me and many just an amazing feeling when first seeing these exotic African animals in the wild. Well it was even better than expected... and for many of us ... just an amazing feeling when first seeing these exotic African animals in the wild... breath taking really.
We left the hotel at 6 am... and even before entering Mikumi we saw monkeys moving in the trees .. and then ... ...we saw this... and he saw us. This is perhaps the favorite picture I took. The little camera Colleen and the girls gave me for this trip is perfect. The real photographers like Francis, Jonathan and others shots are at times at a whole new level of composition.
Peekaboo! These guys are my personal favourite ... appearing so relaxed and majestic.
I suspect they were thinking ... which way should we go gang? This way!! How do you like these live ones Emily?
What a landscape
The elephants seemed to like to keep their distance... the first group had a little one. One had an itch!!
These bad boys love the mud on a hot day to stay cool ... notice the birds on their backs.
We watched this family of baboon's during our lunch... the little ones were going out on a branch... sliding down it ... then climbing back up they went to do it again.
Check out the color on this shot. Hippo was in the deep end of the pool and not coming out... until end of day when they feed on the grass! Water looked fairly clean... leaf like water lilly's on top. We were told there were crocks also ... so were on guard for sure.
Lots of impalas... it seems the males that dominate get all the females in their troop (30-40) ... after I heard that I felt a bit sorry for the lone males wandering around on their own.
We visited a signature Baobab tree ... they also know as "the tree of life" for good reason as it is able to provide shelter, clothing, food and water for the animal as well as people.
We are wore our team shirts. Augusto, Maria and Ross's project. Our guide Charles is up top.
Seven more days of this planned for the post CSC Safari .... certainly wet my appetite.
Love the animal pics!
